A Blue and Cream Finish, and a Construction Update and Minimalism Week 6

I finished this Double Sized New York Beauty yesterday.  Its a custom order for a good customer, and I'll list it on Ebay when she decides if its The One for her.  (When I do custom orders, nothing is final until I have approval;  if the customer loves them, great!, but if not, I'll list them on Ebay for anyone.)  Of course I had to run it over to show my neighbour Helen, who is another avid quilter, and she gave it the thumbs up!

Mercury Retrograde, and Scarlett O'Hara

Has anyone figured out how to invent the 28 hour day?  That's all I want is that extra 4 hours. Between getting back into the serious business of making New York Beauties, and the other serious business of hand dyeing yarn, and life in general, it feels like I've been running behind schedule for days weeks!  Here's a sample of how it's been going . . .

Step 1:  Mow lawn.  Simple, right?  Wrong.

About those Friendship Stars

The daily walk looks a wee bit different than last week, doesn't it?  This is a portion of the Trans Canada Trail, that The Critter and I walk nearly every day.

And remember these?

Well, they  became a border for this:

The Best Things in Life

It was a cold and windy day along the Bay of Fundy yesterday.  Last weekend, we had almost 2 feet of snow, but then the warm temperatures came, and the snow left.  (No, I'm not complaining!)

The Critter found himself one of the last bits of snow for a good back scratch:

A New Design

This new design is what I was working on this weekend.  Its a table topper or table runner.  I've been wanting to experiment with overlapping blocks;  turns out its easier than I'd thought!  I'm working on quilting this one now, and oddly enough the thing that's worrying me most is binding those "V" shaped intersections.

Happy Quilting

And the finished version

Last post, I showed an EQ7 rendering of my latest design.  It's only 30" square, so the outside rings turned out to be just a bit too much.  Maybe for a larger quilt.  This is the first pieced version of the pattern.  (It's sold and on its way to its new home.)  Today, I'm putting finishing touches on a blue and silver variation, and playing with border ideas . . . . . stay tuned!

Just Listed
